I just can't wait for the Spring

Wednesday, 23 February 2011
Hey lovelies, I hope everyone is okay and having a good week so far! I'm on half term or 'reading week' (although I haven't actually done much reading - eeek) at the minute and have been trying to be productive but so far it's not going too well. I was going to embark into town today but the rain hasn't stopped all day so I've given that idea a miss. I absolutely hate how miserable and dull it is at the minute, but it makes me happy that the shops are readily welcoming spring, so I thought I'd do a pretty floral outfit of the day to brighten things up a bit!

Jumper - New Look
Floral Shirt - New Look
Jeans - Peacocks
Brogues - Primark
Headband - Primark

I'm a bit obsessed with all things spring-like at the minute and absolutely adore this outfit. I rarely wear jeans but spied these babies for a teensy tenner the other day and thought 'Why not?'. I do love how well florals and denim can go together, reminds me of summer. I'm in love with this gorgeous floral shirt, the Peter Pan collar on it is adorable. I'm actually really impressed with New Look on a whole at the minute, I always manage to find something I like. Is anyone else impressed with New Looks offerings at the minute? Hope you're all okay :)

My Blog's 1st Birthday :)

It's hard to believe that one year ago, on a rainy Sunday afternoon, I decided to embark on creating my very own blog. I didn't know very much about blogs, and had no idea what an amazing world I was entering. A year on, and I don't actually know what I'd do without my blog. I love how it gives me an outlet for my opinions, and most importantly the interaction I get with my readers. I honestly am SO greatful for everyone who reads my blog, every single follower I've gained and every comment I get never fails to make me smile. I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have supported me on my little blogging journey, and I can't wait to see what my next year in the blogging world has to bring!! xxxx

Be my Valentine ♥

Friday, 18 February 2011
Now I know this is a tad late but this week has been pretty manic so I've only just had the chance to blog! I hope everyone (single and taken) had a lovely Valentines day. Me and my boyfriend didn't do anything really, I'm not THAT big on Valentines day, but I do like an excuse to exchange presents! I already knew that my boyfriend was getting me a Thomas Sabo charm for my bracelet, so I wasn't expecting anything else. So you can imagine how shocked I was when these beauties were delivered to my door!

A dozen beautiful red roses... I really wasn't expecting them but appreciate them very much and they look stunning amongst the rosey decor in my (very much Cath Kidston inspired) bedroom!

The charm my boyfriend got me was this gorgeously cute Bambi. It's the first charm on my bracelet (I treated myself to one after Christmas - January blues and all that) and I absolutely love it.
It's absolutely diddy and so delicate but beautiful. Me and my boyfriend actually spend Valentines night watching Bambi as I recently got it on DVD (I'm re-collecting all the classics, I'm a Disney geek I know). He'd never seen it before but I think he enjoyed it, you've gotta love a bit of Disney!

Hope you all had a lovely day whatever you did :) xx

Bella-la-la-la Bamba

Sunday, 13 February 2011
This might shock some of you, but I have never actually purchased a Benefit blush before. Yes, I've gazed longingly at Coralista and Sugarbomb calling to me from the Benefit counters, but have never had the guts to break into my purse and purchase one. My reasons? The price, for one. I felt that there were plenty of cheaper alternatives on the market, and felt happy to plod along with my beloved Primark blusher, which I felt was a much cheaper alternative.

However, when I laid my eyes on Bella Bamba, which was released a few weeks ago, I just couldn't say no. It is a beautiful, sparking warm pink which glides on the skin and leaves a gorgeous, rosy glow. It even smells divine, something which I have never come across with a blusher, but apparently all Benefit blushes are beautifully fragranced.

It comes in a gorgeous little holographic box, which sits beautifully on my dressing table, along with a brush for applying the powder (I haven't used it though - I'll stick with my ELF blusher brush). Whereas previous Benefit blushers came in boxes with a lid, this one has a magnetic contraption which makes for a much less messier make up bag. It also has a cute little mirror which is great for checking your make up on the go.

Here's the sugary sweet Bella Bamba swatched

You only need to apply the tiniest bit of Bella Bamba to get a beautiful sweep of colour, which makes me think this will last me a long time (as I've heard all Benefit blushes do). I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful pink blush, with a touch of thin iridescent glitter which blends perfectly into the skin. I'm wearing it in my last face of the day if you want to see how it looks on :).

What do you girls think to Bella Bamba? Have you tried it yet? Or do you have another favourite Benefit blush? Hope you're all okay, and having a lovely Valentines weekend :) xx

Valentines Nails ♥

Saturday, 12 February 2011
Hello love birds! As it's Valentines Day on Monday I thought I would experiment with my nails a bit and create a pretty heart pattern. Now, I'm terrible when it comes to nail art; I need a LOT of practice as I don't have very steady hands and am incredibly clumsy. However, I found this look really easy to do so I think even those of you who aren't the most confident with nail art will be able to give it a whirl!

Using my white Models Own WAH Nail Art pen I created a simple but pretty heart look. It isn't perfect, but I'm really pleased with how it came out, and it only took me about 10 minutes to do. It kind of reminds me of the Queen of Hearts, and I think it would look equally good in red or a paler pink, or even lilac.

What do you think? Are you all looking forward to Valentines day? I'm not sure what I'm doing for it yet, I'll be happy staying in to be honest!

Also, if you want to get into nail art I recommend you take a look at Fee's (makeupsavvy.co.uk) and Leanne's (donotrefreeze.com) blogs - they're absolutely fab and are what inspired me to start experimenting a bit more! Hope you're all having a lovely Valentines weekend :) xx

I can't say no to something sparkly...

Friday, 11 February 2011

Hey girls, I hope everyone's okay, and enjoying the sunshine if there is any where you are! It's been bright and sunny here and so I thought I'd wear some rather gorgeous and sparkly pieces of jewellery to brighten my outfit up. I don't know if you've been following my blog long enough to know, but a while back I posted about my sister's jewellery making business, 'Lucy May Designs'. She makes absolutely stunning pieces of jewellery, heavily embroidered with Swarvoski crystals, beads and sequins.

Her pieces are all hand made and the amount of work that goes into them is incredible. What I love about them is that they're so unique - I've never seen jewellery like this before, and it's completely me because I love having things no one else does. I thought I would show you all the jewellery I own from Lucy May Designs, because it's so beautiful I felt it deserved its own post!
Beautiful flower earrings
My absolute favourite necklace, the bee detailing is so cute and just my taste

I bought this recently and hope to wear it on a night out to add some sparkle to my plain LBD
These are all beautiful butterfly brooches, but I also own a butterfly hair clip
Today I wore my pink and blue bee and flower necklace with my butterfly hair clip (it's SO sparkly)

What do you girls think? I absolutely love all the things I own, the butterflies are so nice to wear in your hair in the summer, and the necklaces really glam up an outfit. The butteflies cost £11.99 and the necklaces are £24.99. There are absolutely loads more sparkly creations on Lucy's website, and you can even pick your own colours etc. and get them custom made. If you want to take a look it's lucymaydesigns.co.uk. Hope you all have a fab weekend!

Feeling Bright

Monday, 7 February 2011

Face: Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Sand Beige
A tiny bit of Maybelline Dream Sun Glow for a bit more colour
Primark 'Little Glow Cheek' bronzer
Benefit Bella Bamba blush
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent

Eyes: Urban Decay eye shadow in Half Baked & Smog
Illamasqua Precision Ink eye liner in Abyss
Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara
Girls Aloud Eyelure Lashes in Kimberley
17 Brow pencil in light brown

Lips: MAC Innocence, Beware! Lipstick

Just thought I'd do a little 'face of the day' today as my make up feels really fresh and glowy. I feel really summery at the minute (you wouldn't think so with the weather!) and so I've been trying to make my make up a little brighter and glowing. I also really love nude lips at the minute - one minute I'm all for brights and the next I'm back to nudes. I just think they look really pretty and effortless. I've been wearing false eyelashes almost everyday recently. It's really bad because I feel I'm becoming a little bit dependent on them, but nevertheless they make my eyes open up so much more and make me feel that little bit more glam. I'd always been off-put them in the past because I could never put them on properly, but seriously, practice makes perfect (along with buying good quality lashes - like Eyelure as opposed to cheapy ones!) Also, I LOVE this top I got from New Look a few weeks ago. I'd not worn it yet but I just love the colour, again, making me feel all summery! I hope you're all ok :) xx

Handbag Woes

Sunday, 6 February 2011
Recently I've felt a little 'stuck in a rut' when it comes to my handbag collection. Alas, there are no fancy designer handbags here, but a mish-mash of several high street stores, with a Pauls Boutique or two thrown in along the way. But I feel I have grown out of my Pauls Boutique/leopard print bag/slouchy Primark satchel phase and I am looking for something a little more grown-up. What I am currently lusting after desperately, is a 'classic', 'timeless' handbag in which I can use everyday, no matter what the outfit. As much as I would love to be able to fork out on a Mulberry Roxanne or Alexa, I do not have the cash and I also do not wear real leather. This is purely a personal choice of mine. This is where my problem really lies - there seem to be very few truely 'timeless' bags out there that are not made of the leather stuff. However, I stumbled across a couple of Marc B bags on the Topshop website a few days ago, which immediately caught my attention. No, they are by no means my 'perfect bag'. I would ideally like something with pockets (okay so I want a non-leather Mulberry Roxanne, we can all dream) but these are the only bags I can seem to find which catch my eye. What do you think? Which one do you prefer? I am honestly not at all sure about either, but there is something enticing me in.

The Lana Bag

The Cleo Bag

Both bags retail around the £50 mark which I think is reasonable enough, if they are decent quality. I have never purchased a Marc B bag before and therefore have no experience with them - have any of you ladies? I would love to know if the quality matches up to their pretty appearance. Or, if you have seen any similar bags which scream 'grown-up' then please let me know. Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday evening!

Pretties from Primark

Friday, 4 February 2011

Hey girls, just thought I'd show you some of the pretties I've bought from Primark recently. Whenever I go in there at the minute I can't resist treating myself to a thing or two; I know sometimes Primark can be a bit hit or miss but I'm really impressed with their current stock.

I'm in love with the rose headband I bought - I've seen similar ones in Accessorize but for a lot more money. This was only £2 and is so delicate and pretty, perfect for summer. I'm also really impressed with the range of scarves Primark has in at the moment - I grabbed this cute bird print one, but there was also swallow print, floral and even giraffe print scarves, all for around £3-4 each. I also grabbed a nautical satin scarf, which I've seen about quite a lot at the minute. I always love Primark for cosmetic bags and wash bags and spied this rather expensive looking leopard print one the other day for a mere £2 and couldn't resist. They also have some lovely floral ones (I think I've collected about 4 already!) which are rather Cath Kidston-esque. Finally I really don't think you can fault Primark for some of their cosmetics. I've raved about the 'Happy Couple' blush/bronzing duo in the past but I also love this little bronzing beauty, 'Little Glow Cheek'. It gives you such a gorgeous glow with a touch of shimmer without being too much. I think it was around £3.50, bargain!

What do you think to my Primark goodies? Are you loving Primark at the moment?

Cupcake Creations

Wednesday, 2 February 2011
Hey girlies :) I hope everyone is okay and having a lovely week so far!

Today I decided to have a go at making some cupcakes. I've wanted to get into this cupcake making business for a while now, after seeing various beautiful creations on several blogs including the beautiful Milly's, but had never felt brave enough. Then at Christmas my boyfriend bought me a box full to the brim with goodies for making cupcakes; pretty cases, sprinkles, and other gorgeous decorations, so I had no excuse! I'd been really busy throughout January and never got round to making any, but I set aside today and managed to make my first ever batch!

Piping them wasn't as easy as I imagined, and you wouldn't imagine the mess I created in the kitchen, but overall I'm pleased with my first attempt! They're not perfect but they look pretty and (fingers crossed) will taste delicious. I thought I'd leave you with some pretty pictures...

What do you think? Any other budding cupcake creators out there?
