Summer Days

Sunday, 26 June 2011
Hi everyone! I can't believe how hot it's been today. Like seriously, sizzling, cold shower hot (I actually just had a cold shower - THE most amazing feeling after being in the sweltering sun all day!) I've spent my day lazing in the sun and trying (and failing) to cool down. I think it was about 30 degrees today, which is the hottest it's been here in a very long time. This afternoon I decided enough is enough, we NEED to buy a paddling pool (so what if the heat is only here for two days) so went and got this baby. It's a really good size and I'm hoping tomorrow will be just as hot so I can put it to good use!

Anyway, as the sun was shining I decided to go all out on the summery hair and make up-front. Summer make up is my absolute favourite; I love creating gorgeous, dewy, glowy looks for myself, and slapping on the fake tan always makes me feel better too! As for summer hair; I'm all about loose waves and pretty plaits, and don't think you can ever go wrong with a floral hair accessory.
Here's my look for today -
Face: Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Sand Beige mixed with Maybelline Sun Glow Bronzing Booster Make Up in Bronze, MAC MSF in Golden Lariat, W7 Blush in Diamond Pink
Eyes: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Sin all over lid and Sidecar in crease, Collection 2000 Fast-stroke Eyeliner, Boots Eyelashes in Natural Volume
Lips: YSL Rouge Volupt in #30

In all honesty I couldn't really bothered to do much with my hair today, so thought a simple messy side-plait would suffice. I'm absolutely rubbish when it comes to doing neat plaits, so will always embrace the messiness. I added the cute floral headband from Primark to prettify it up a bit. As for make up, there's nothing too far from the ordinary here, apart from adding a bit more highlight than usual to make myself 'glow'. The blush and bronze I used were also quite shimmery so they add to the whole glowy effect.

What did everyone get up to in the sunshine today? I hope you all had a fab weekend!

My Interning Goodies :)

Saturday, 25 June 2011
Hey lovelies, I hope you're all okay! I thought I better explain myself as I have been pretty much absent for the past few weeks. Basically I've been in London interning at Closer magazine, as if you've been following me for a while you'll know that being in beauty/fashion journalism is my dream career, and I hope to make it a reality!

I had a fantastic two weeks, met some lovely people and learnt so much about what goes on behind the scenes at magazines. It was also so nice to be in London for a whole two weeks (yes, I ventured to Oxford Street!), and it's definitely set clearly in my mind that London is where I want to be! I just keep thinking how absolutely AMAZING it would be to get paid to play with beauty products all day long, and then get to write about them. It really is my dream job, and interning at Closer definitely set this in stone for me.  Speaking of beauty products, the beauty cupboard at Closer was full to the brim of so many different products it was a little overwhelming (and exciting!). There was a beauty sale,  but unfortunately it wasn't until after I'd left (boooo) but luckily I was given a goodie bag full of beauty products when I left to say thank you for helping out! You can obviously understand my excitement, so I thought I would show you what I got!

Me Me Me Fat Lash Mascara, Avon Minerals Powder, Pixi Lipstick & Liner Duo, Liz Earle Aftersun, YSL Cream Blush, Origins SPF 25 Moisturiser, Leighton Denny Sole Mate Foot Scrub, MAC Venomous Villains Beauty Powder, Cute Apple Ring

Amazing, right? I got to choose 2 things myself, can you guess which?

Obviously I was all over the MAC Beauty Powder as soon as I saw it, although I did pretty much buy the majority of the VV Collection when it came out, this was one thing I REALLY wanted but sustained from buying. So you can imagine my glee when I saw it kicking about in the cupboard! I've been wearing it already and I absolutely love the colour, perfect for any skintone. The compact is so cute as well, gotta love Maleficent!

The other thing I picked out was of course the YSL blush. Although I tend to steer clear of cream blushes, the shiny golden box was glinting at me whilst I was rummaging through the cupboard, and when I opened it and saw the AMAZING coral colour I couldn't resist. I've not actually worn this on my cheeks yet (I keep thinking, it's YSL, I need to save it) but I can't wait. It such a beautiful summery shade, and I definitely think cream blushes scream summer.

I am SO pleased with everything I got, and so greatful to Closer for giving me them! I had an amazing time and am really looking forward to doing more internships in the future. What do you things I got? Hope you like them!

Grazia Benefit Skincare Freebies

Thursday, 23 June 2011

I know, I know - I've been completely AWOL the past few weeks. If you follow me on Twitter you'll know why, but if not I am going to let you know all about it in an upcoming blog post. Today though, I simply couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to show you this fantastic deal. Well, not even a deal, but a full-blown FREEBIE - how fabulous.

If you're a regular reader of Grazia then you'll probably already know about this - but for those that aren't this week Grazia are giving away three of the Benefit b.right Skincare products. You get a free 'It's Potent' Eye Cream, a free 'Triple Performing' Facial Emulsion and a free 'Foamingly Clean' Facial Wash. Amazing right?! Obviously they're not full size products (according to Grazia you get a 8.9ml Facial Emulsion, 8.9g Facial Wash, and a 3g Eye Cream - basically they're mini bottles) but considering I was about to spend a tenner on the Mini set from Asos (which has since sold out, booo) I think this is a great deal.

I've not tried the products but have wanted to forever so will definitely be snapping one of these up! To be honest even if the products aren't that great I am all over the amazing packaging! To claim the freebie you just take the page into your local Benefit counter (be it Boots, Debenhams etc.) and hope to GOD they have some left in stock. I'm planning on going to get mine next week and there will HELL to pay if they don't have them. I'm predicting they will go pretty soon (anyone remember the free Origins deal!?) so get in there fast!

ALSO - If you get your Grazia from WHSmith it 's only £1 this week! Go go go!
