What's in my bag?

Wednesday, 27 July 2011
Union Jack Accessorize purse, Cat Accessorize camera bag (with Canon Ixus 15 inside), Paperchase Butterfly Diary, my keys with a plethora of pretty keyrings, 'The Single Girl's To Do List' by Lindsey Kelk, Dettol Hygiene Gel, H & M cupcake lipbalm, Next Leopard Diamante pen, Mini Lola Rose perfume, Cath Kidston mirror, Extra chewing gum, Ipod Touch (with Paperchase case and Accessorize earphones) H & M make up bag, my Blackberry

If there's one thing I absolutely love doing, it's reading 'What's in my bag?' posts and watching videos of the same title. There is something really satisfying about seeing the contents of a person's bag, and I for one adore seeing what pretty things people keep in their day-to-day handbags. I used to be a very much 'bung some cash in my pocket and go' kind of girl, but as the years have gone by I've become attached to carrying around lots of bits and bobs and thought I'd show you the contents of my bag! Some people might find this utterly boring (apologies) but I hope you enjoy delving into my bag and having a look around!

As for my actual handbag, I've wanted to do a post on it forever but never got round to it until now. I got it from Zara a few months ago, for around the £25 mark. I adore this bag - I'd been on the hunt for a 'classic' or 'timeless' bag for ages and although this one isn't what everyone would call 'timeless', it is so ridiculously me and I love it. It's a duffle bag (one I'm not usually accustomed to owning) and has so many cute little details (a pretty tassle, a cute little coin purse attached AND I just HAD to show you the 'Don't forget your keys!!!' ribbon that is attached to the inside; adorable.

Do you enjoy reading 'What's in my bag?' posts? Do you like to carry around lots or are you a more 'phone keys cash' kind of girl?

Benefit B.right Skincare

Monday, 25 July 2011
I just thought I'd do a little review of the new(ish) Benefit B.right skincare range. I got these three minis a while ago as a freebie with Grazia, and have been using them regularly ever since. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. To be honest the thing that got me most excited when I first heard about them was the packaging. I just love having pretty products on my dressing table, and these are so cute in an Alice in Wonderland kind of way.

The products I got were the Triple Performing Facial Emulsion, the Foamingly Clean Facial Wash and the It's Potent! Eye Cream. They also do a toner, a 're-hydator', an exfoliator and another, richer moisturiser, which is targeted towards dry skin. I'll get straight to the point - I really do like the moisturiser. It smells divine, leaves my skin feeling soft and (I think - although it's sometimes hard to tell) it keeps my oil at bay. It's very light and fresh-smelling, which I like. It's also SPF 15, which is really good. I'm also a fan of the cleanser - it only takes a tiny bit and it foams up on your face like a treat, getting rid of impurities and, again, leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth. I'm not really a fan of wash cleansers as a whole (I prefer a cleansing milk, easier in my opinion) but this would be a great cleanser to use in the shower, or after using a cleansing milk to give your skin a really deep cleanse. As for the eye cream, in all honestly I've not really noticed a difference when using it, but I've tried several eye creams and never really notice much. Maybe it's just me, but all they tend to do is sting for a bit and that's it. This one is no different.

All in all, I'm impressed with Benefit's skincare offering but I am disappointed with the prices. The moisturiser comes in at a hefty £19.50, the cleanser at £16.50 and the eye cream a whopping £23.50. I know Benefit has never been the cheapest brand in the world but I think these would be better if they stuck nearer the £15 range, as if you were to buy all of the products you need to have a proper skincare routine it would cost you a considerable amount. Will I be purchasing any of the products? Well, I like the cleanser and the moisturiser, but I probably wouldn't unless I was looking for a special purchase. I think of the two I like the moisturiser best, but the price really does put me off.

Have you tried Benefits B.right skincare range? Do you think it's worth the price tag?

Candy Yum Yum's Twin!

Saturday, 23 July 2011

I went shopping a couple of days ago, to pick up a few 'beauty essentials' (okay, to treat myself to lots of pretty make up), and whilst I was browsing the Barry M display I spied a lipstick that had my name on it.

I absolutely adore bright, in-your-face lipsticks - yes they may attract a few stares, and sometimes even snide comments (honestly, it's lipstick, I'm not walking around with 'look at me' written on my forehead). They make me feel very 'made up' and glamorous, and I don't think there is anything wrong with that!

As you will know, when MAC released their 'Quite Cute' collection I was all over the Candy Yum Yum lipstick - it still remains one of my all-time favourite lipsticks, but unfortunately it sold out pretty fast and not everyone got the chance to get their hands on it. Luckily, I think my Barry M browse may have solved that problem!
Top - MAC Candy Yum Yum
Bottom - Barry M 62

HOW similar do they look!? Barry M 62 is a seriously amazing 'dupe' (or twin as I like to call it) for MAC's Candy Yum Yum, and to be honestly I'm a bit in shock at just HOW similar the two are, and I'm SO glad that I no longer have to worry about my beloved Candy Yum Yum running out! It's also better for nights out as I'm always wary of taking my MAC lipsticks out in case I lose them, especially if they were Limited Edition (anyone else like that?!) I know Barry M lip paints are notorious for being extremely drying, but this one is actually really moisturising and nice on my lips - definitely a bonus. The Barry M lip paints are currently on offer in Boots for 2 for £7, or they usually cost £4.49 each.

What do you think to my alternative to Candy Yum Yum? Do you like bright lip colours?

Ps. I'm currently playing about with my layout - what do you think to the bigger images? I'm hoping to have a complete overhaul (out with the old, in with the new and all that) at some point but for now you'll have to bare with my little 'now and again' alterations. Let me know if you prefer the bigger pictures (I personally think the bigger the better, but I'm not writing this blog to myself!) as I really appreciate your input. Hope you're all okay :)

Accessorize Baked Duo Bronzer in Bali

Tuesday, 19 July 2011

If you've been following my blog for a while now, you'll know I'm a massive fan of the Accessorize make up range. When it first launched a while ago, I went a bit mad buying things because they all look so pretty - the mineralize products are honestly to-die-for, and the packaging is seriously beautiful. The only problem was, I struggled to find anywhere that stocked the range, other than online (selected Superdrug stores do stock Accessorize cosmetics apparently, but I've never found one) and I am such a stinge when it comes to paying for delivery. Therefore I hadn't bought any of their products since.

However, when I popped into Accessorize last week, to have a little look at the sale, I saw that my local Accessorize now stocks a small selection of the make up range, hooray! They had a few eyeshadows, blushes, bronzers, lipsticks and nail polishes, as well as a few other bits and bobs. The thing that immediately caught my eye were the baked bronzers - my last Accessorize bronzer (shade California) is one of my all-time favourites, but unfortunately I dropped it on the floor a while ago, and only a few dusty fragments remain (sob!). The bronzer I picked up is one of their new 'duo' bronzers, with half the pan a very shimmery, marbled bronze and the other a smoother, lighter shade. The shade is 'Bali' and I absolute love it so far. The marbled side is a gorgeous, light shimmer that I love - it's not too glittery but leaves enough shimmer to give you that all-important glow, whereas the other side is a beautiful, buttery-soft light bronze. It's actually a fair bit lighter than I first thought, but when they're both swirled together it creates a gorgeous finish.

I definitely don't think you can go wrong with Accessorize make up - their blushes and bronzers are to die for and are so cheap too - the bronzer was only £6 and I definitely think it compares to the likes of MAC and Nars. Definitely worth a look if you've not tried Accessorize make up before!

Thank you Warehouse!

Monday, 18 July 2011
Firstly, I'd like to give a massive apology for being so incredibly slack on the blogging front lately - the past few weeks have been ridiculously stressful, mainly because I've been re-doing my room and it's been complete and utter chaos - I am the most tidy-tidy person ever and living in my room the way it was was driving me mad! However it is now all pretty and (pretty much) finished so blogging can resume, hooray! I've really missed it and I'm hoping to be back to blogging REGULARLY from now on. Thank you all so much for sticking with me!

I wasn't sure what to blog about today, but I received something in the post this morning I've been EXTREMELY excited about getting and just had to show it you. Basically, last week I was having the worst week EVER (everything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong) and was generally down in the dumps. I was having a little look on Twitter (as you do) and kept seeing people tweeting about this 'WareStyleTreats' thing - I was intrigued to find out all this month the fabulous Warehouse are giving away treats to some of their followers. All you have to do is be following Warehouse (@WareStyle) and you're in with a chance! I tweeted them saying I was having a terrible day and could do with a pick-me-up, never thinking I had the slightest chance of winning anything, but it's always worth a go, right? You can imagine how excited I was when they tweeted saying I'd only gone and won a CAMERA. I was literally dancing around the house all afternoon, they honestly made my month!

The best thing is, the camera is PINK. I've always wanted a pink camera, and I've been wanting a nifty little digital camera for ages (I was previously using my mum's, until I got my SLR) to take out and about with me day-to-day. I have to say, I'm in love with it.

A couple of days after I found out I'd won I was perusing the Accessorize sale and found this gorgeous camera case for a teeny £4 and had to have it. The camera fits in it perfectly and I love it :)

Have you been lucky enough to win some WareStyle Treats? What do you think to my pretty new camera? I hope you're all okay!
