MAC Ruby Woo

MAC Ruby Woo

I bought MAC's infamous Ruby Woo lipstick a while ago (when Debenhams had a 10% off cosmetics offer floating around), after learning that it's a favourite with Gwen Stefani and Rita Ora - and quite possibly is the 'go-to' red lip for the vast majority of celebs. I love a red lipstick - perfect for A/W and the best way to glam up any outfit. Ruby Woo is definitely the definition of a 'classic' red - it's a deep red, in a matte formulation and screams Hollywood glamour.

I love it - but I wouldn't wear it everyday. It's definitely a tad darker than I expected and therefore I'm reserving it for nights out. It really is the perfect lipstick for a night out - but in the day I just think it'd be a tad too much, on my skin tone anyway. The one thing that annoys me about red lipsticks is they ALWAYS make me look pale - even when I've fake tanned to the max! So annoying! You also have to be a bit of a master at applying lipstick if you want the 'perfect' red lip - I'm definitely not there yet, but I'm trying!

Are you a fan of red lips? Do you have the infamous Ruby Woo?

  3. It is quite dark, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I can understand why you're saving it for nights out though! I'd like to try it on, but I'm so bloody pale it'd probably look awful xx

    1. whether you are pale, or dark skinned or olive toned or whatever tone for that matter, ruby woo is an absolute beauty that suits everyone and looks absolutely stunning put on!it isn't dark as mentioned above and it is bright without even trying to be bright - I don't know if it makes sense -lol- It is such a classy, unique gorgeous true matte red colour with a vibrance that will transform your face and your mood instantly - I can guarantee it. I have so many red lipsticks (in bullet form, in liquid lipstick turning matte form, from stila, nars, limecrime etc) that can also be beautiful but nothing beats ruby woo - you have to try it on to know what I'm talking about. And personally I wear it in the morning,in the evening, at night, at home,at work, at special occasions, at nights going out, I don't care - I'm a red lipstick kind of girl (for the last couple of years :) ).And it always attracts looks and lots compliments. Every time I wear it, I wear it for me - the fact that everyone loves to look at it and admires it as much as I love it on me is just an extra bonus! ;)

    2. ps> also, from what I see in the photos above, the camera has picked it up different and darker than it really is - in fact I'm wearing it right now and my face is also really, really tanned (naturally tanned - the beauty of the meditteranean summer sun where I live -lol) and it looks completely different. In these photos the matteness is depicted correctly (no shine whatsoever) but the colour resembles more like Russian Red here than Ruby Woo. Even in the photos of the bullet the lipstick looks brighter that the photos she has put it on, but even there the camera hasn't picked the colour properly as it really is. Hope that helps :)

  14. Had my eyes on Ruby Woo for as long as I can remember. Such a stunning attention seeking red. I heart it but I don't know if I'll ever have the confidence to pull it off. Only time will tell I suppose :)

  16. I think you look fabulous, but I'm with you, whenever I apply the red lip I feel pale as I am not used to it! I also get a shock everytime I catch myself in the mirror!

  23. Ive been after the perfect red lipstick for a while, this one may have to be purchased very soon! It's a really nice colour. Was a bit tempted to get one of those red lip colourings by mac, it's not lipstick or lipglass, it's is a little tubey type thing?!

  27. It looks gorgeous on you! I think it's a tad too dark for me.. really washes me out too :/ Whereas something like Topshop's "Rio Rio" is a perfect red lip in my pale opinion! X
