London Birthday Weekend

Wednesday, 29 August 2012
Last weekend for my 22nd birthday me and my boyfriend headed down to London to celebrate. I've been to London a fair few times, through blogging events or just general visits down there, and I can seriously never get enough of the city. My boyfriend Tom hadn't really been before so it was exciting showing him around and exploring together! We visited the zoo, which I'd actually never been to before, and I absolutely LOVED it. I'm such a geek when it comes to animals - I think I was actually on cloud nine wandering around Regents Park surrounded by all the beautiful creatures! My particular favourites were the penguins, lions and tigers and of course the meerkats.

On Saturday night we headed to Her Majesty's Theatre to watch The Phantom of the Opera - I've only ever been to see a show years and years ago when I was younger (which I barely remember) so I was SO excited to go and see Phantom. It was absolutely amazing and if you've never been to see a show before - DO IT. It's so worth it. We actually got our tickets a couple of hours before the show at a ticket box office in Leicester Square (thank you to everyone on Twitter who suggested doing this!) and it was sooo much cheaper, and we got pretty good seats too, so I definitely recommend doing that if you're not too bothered about where you sit/which show you see.

On Sunday we spent the day shopping, perusing Harrods and Hamleys and visiting museums. I've not been to Harrods in years and I'd forgotten how much I love it there. The 'Toy Kingdom' knocks Hamley's socks off if I'm perfectly honest, you get to play with all the toys without the hundreds of kids getting in your way. I think I'd gone to heaven when I noticed the Harry Potter section - I've never seen so many Harry Potter goodies, and it took all my strength to resist buying at least a wand (Luna Lovegood's is the one I'm happily brandishing in the photograph above). I also fell in love with several of the Steiff teddy bears - I've collected teddy bears since I was younger and we used to go to teddy/dolls house fairs at the weekends - I think everyone should own a Steiff, I wanted the rabbit perched on my shoulder in the photograph above but I already have a Steiff bunny so I gave it a miss!

I had an amazing birthday weekend in London and it well and truly reignited my love for the city. I really, really hope I can call this wonderful place my home one day! I hope everyone else had a fantastic Bank Holiday Weekend! Also - I would be so, so grateful if you could vote for me in Style Compare's Blogger Challenge here. The competition finishes tomorrow so get your votes in quick!

I ♥ Disney Couture

Wednesday, 8 August 2012

If there is one brand I simply cannot get enough of when it comes to jewellery, it has GOT to be Disney Couture. I remember discovering the brand years ago when I was at college, when I saw a beautiful Disneyland Castle necklace dangling off the neck of a girl in one of my classes. I immediately had to find out about the brand - as you know, I ADORE everything Disney, and I have a rather Magpie-like tendency when it comes to jewellery, so combining the two together is my dream come true. Over the years my collection has increased gradually, but I still want more! I don't think you're a "proper" Disney fan until you get yourself a piece of Disney jewellery - and Disney Couture's pieces are always so precious. I think I love my castle necklace best - it's the Disney logo after all and represents what Disney's all about, as well as being a really nice length (it's on a long chain) and going with the majority of my outfits! I also loooove my Mrs. Potts necklace - again, it's the perfect length, goes well with my outfits but is also bling-tastic and even has cute little Chip on it!

Disney Couture always release new collections and I always end up swooning over everything. At the minute I have my eye on their new Winnie the Pooh collection (how cute are these stacking rings?!), a gorgeous Tinkerbelle necklace and I think this Minnie Mouse ears necklace screams Disneyland! Speaking of which, I am officially saving up to go on my dream holiday to Disneyworld Florida. Talk about exciting!

Do you love Disney Couture jewellery? Which pieces do you have?

Aztec Blogger Style Challenge

Aztec Cardigan: New Look via Style Compare*
Dress: River Island
Necklace: Butler & Wilson

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the lovely team at Style Compare to take part in their Blogger Style Challenge, which takes place monthly. I've seen (and voted in!) many of their style challenges over the past few months so I jumped at the chance to take part!

This month's trend was Aztec. To be honest, I only own one item of Aztec clothing, as the trend never really jumped out at me, but lately I've had my eye on more and more knitted Aztec pieces, and when I saw this cardigan from New Look via Style Compare I just couldn't resist. It is such a unique piece and is exactly my style; bright with pastel thrown in, and is so snuggly and nice to wear. I got it in a size 14, as I'm all about oversized cardis, and paired it with my trusty pale blue polkadot dress from River Island, with my cute Butler & Wilson duck necklace for a bit of added bling.

I would be so, so grateful if you could take the time to vote for me in this month's Style Compare Blogger Challenge here! I am up against some of my absolute favourite bloggers but would really appreciate your votes! Whoever wins will also be giving away a £25 Style Compare voucher to one lucky reader, how exciting! Let me know what you think to my outfit choice!

VO5 Nourish Me Truly Shampoo & Conditioner

VO5 Nourish Me Truly Shampoo & Conditioner

When it comes to shampoos and conditioners, I tend to go for the cheapest ones I see on the shelf. This is usually my trusty bargainous Alberto Balsam - for around £1 a bottle (and a deliciously fruity smell) you can't really go wrong. I also have a tendency to fall for whatever is on offer - my thoughts being; why spend a lot on something you wash down the plughole? Therefore when I was perusing Superdrug a few weeks ago, on the hunt for any hair and skincare bargains I could get my hands on, I spied the VO5 shampoos and conditioners for just over a pound a pop. Considering you get a rather hefty 500ml per bottle (and I am known to get through shampoo and conditioner like no one else - lots of hair and an obsession with washing it everyday, but I digress) this was an offer I couldn't refuse.

Now, I've seen these big-bulky-kind-of-odd-looking bottles sitting pretty on the shelves before, but for around £3.50 each, they were simply out of my 'cheap as chips' price-range. Along comes an offer - and I'm sold. I happily purchased myself the 'Nourish Me Truly' shampoo and conditioner, after weighing up all my options (do I want moisture or nourishment?! One of life's many tough decisions), and looked forward to trying out the new products.

To be honest, I've never really bought many VO5 products before - no reason why, just that nothing ever seemed to catch my eye - however, I am SO glad I got these as they are fast becoming my go-to shampoo and conditioners. I've been using the 'Nourish Me Truly' products for a few weeks now, and I am seriously impressed with the results. I am pretty renowned for having messy/birds-nest/matted/knotty/scare-crow-esque hair, which is dry, brittle and basically - a little bit crap. I don't look after my hair nearly as much as I should - I over-wash it, hate brushing it, and basically don't pay it as much attention as it so desperately needs. Therefore, when it comes to shampoo and conditioner, I need something that will pamper my hair for me. And this most certainly does. My hair feels SO incredibly soft once I've used these products, is easier to untangle and just generally feels smooth, light and in good condition. I'm guessing it has something to do with the '5 Oil Blend' described on the bottle; oils are all the rage these days, and I can definitely see why!

Overall, I'm really, really impressed with VO5's 'Nourish Me Truly' products, so much so that I have already repurchased. Have you tried VO5's shampoos and conditioners before? What did you think?
