Topshop Rising Star

Topshop Nail Polish in Rising Star - £6 Topshop
Over Models Own Beth's Blue, on its own, over Topshop Gypsy Night

I've always been a fan of Topshop's makeup range, ever since it was released a fair while ago. I think what originally drew me in was the cute packaging and Topshop branding, but the products themselves are brilliant. I'm a big fan of their nail polishes; I've built up a little collection and I'm always keen to add more, so when I spied this gorgeous starry wonder in Topshop Oxford Circus, I fell in love. I've been swooning over the Urban Outfitter's Twinkle after seeing Lily's post on it ages ago, but could never seem to get hold of it, and refused to buy it online and pay for shipping. I guess I could have hunted it down whilst I was in London, but instead I chose to go for Topshop's similar silvery offering.

I never seem to come across nail polishes with different shaped glittery flecks in; for some bizarre reason they seem to be a bit of a rarity, yet they are SO pretty. Why aren't there more star-shaped or heart-shaped polishes on the market? Something definitely needs to be done about that! But I digress... Topshop's Rising Star polish is gorgeous - it's predominantly silver, with fine iridescent glitter and, most importantly, the silver stars. Reading the reviews online I saw mostly negative, but I actually really like this polish. Okay, so you have to be very careful when applying, and trying to get the stars out can be a bit of a hassle (there don't seem to be AS many as there are in Urban Outfitter's polish, but there are still a fair few) as they all sink to the bottom fairly quickly. Other than that, I find the formulation of the polish to be really easy to use, dries quickly and doesn't chip easily.

Overall I'm really happy with Topshop's Rising Star polish - I think it's a really simple way of adding a bit of magic and sparkle to previously plain nails. I do however think I still need to get my paws on Urban Outfitter's Twinkle, as I cannot resist the idea of pale pink and mint glittery stars!

  2. This looks beautiful over the black! I'm quite apprehensive of chunky glitters but love the effect this gives.
