Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque Review

My hair is notoriously dry and damaged, due to a love of back-combing and colouring. Over the past few months however I've been trying to cut down on back-combing and making sure I take care of my hair, in the hope of getting my locks growing longer (see my post here). To do this I've been cutting down on washing it, quitting back-combing and of course, doing regular deep treatments.

A little while ago I was sent the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque to review, and had high hopes for it to get my hair in a better condition. Containing macadamia oil and argan oil, along with tea tree oil, chamomile oil, aloe and algae extracts, it sounded like the ideal treat for my lacklustre locks. Unfortunately, after a few months of using it I'm not particularly impressed. Whilst it does make my hair feel better temporarily, it definitely doesn't hydrate it as much as my Moroccanoil Deep Conditioner did (which I posted about here), and just generally hasn't made much of a difference to my hair's condition. For the amount of oils in the conditioner, and the price of it, I was expecting a lot more. Whilst it isn't a terrible conditioner, I have found much better drugstore deep conditioners in the past, including the likes of Dove and Herbal Essences.

Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this product and I definitely won't be repurchasing. I think a lot of my disappointment lies in the fact I had the Moroccanoil version to compare it to, which was completely fantastic, whereas this is a lot less impressive. If you're looking for a high-end deep conditioner I wouldn't advise getting this, but instead opt for something like Moroccanoil's version.

Have you tried this conditioner from Macademia Natural Oil? What did you think to it?

  1. Thanks for posting this review. I have been toying with the idea of trying this brand as I dye my hair more often than I really should.
I couldn't really justify spending so much money on a set without knowing a little more about the products.
You've just saved me a tonne of money, thanks!

  3. I currently use the Bee Strong herbal essences and I include the ranges deep conditioner every now and again too and it's amazing. I did exactly the same as you and completely lowered my hair washes per week and back combing extra and my hair has grown so much over the past 3 months, it's literally shot down!

I wanted to change up my routine and I was considering rather the Macadamia or Moroccanoil and after this review I'll go with the Moroccanoil, thankyou!

  8. I've also been wanting to try out this stuff, but good to know it should be skipped. I just recently dyed my hair and it's left my scalp dry, although my hair seems rather healthy but I've been hesitant to use a deep conditioner just in case it'll fade the color much faster. Thanks for the review! :)

  9. I'm a bit surprised because I've read a few reviews from people that love this! However, I have to agree you can find much cheaper alternatives that work just as well! Right now, I'm using L'Oreal's Damage Erasing Balm and I've really been enjoying it. If you haven't tried it already, I recommend it!

  10. I don't think I've ever seen anyone say they didn't like this until now, but I wasn't that impressed by it either. - it hasn't really done anything amazing for my hair so far x

  11. Thanks for posting this review, I am also a backcombing fan (and colouring, now you mention it) & so also desperately grab for all intensive moisturising products, especially masks as they feel so luxurious. Good to know what to avoid! x
