Festive Gingerbread House

A couple of days before Christmas, me and my boyfriend decided to have a go at making our very own Gingerbread House. I've always wanted to make one, and instead of opting for a kit, we decided to make it entirely from scratch. I love making gingerbread so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to do some baking whilst getting in the festive spirit.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Making the gingerbread and putting it all together was the boring part, but decorating it was so much fun. We spent Christmas Eve watching Toy Story 2 and covering it in a mass of chocolate buttons, matchmakers, icing, sprinkles, candy canes and glitter. We were planning on using candy floss for the chimney smoke but couldn't find any in the end, so opted for some cotton wool instead. Not edible obviously, but I love how it looks!

Have you made a Gingerbread House over Christmas? Let me know what you think to mine!

  4. Oh my goodness! I can't believe you made this. It's brilliant! You should be on the Great British Bake Off with skills like this. I would be so impressed with myself if I ever managed to put something like this together. Far, far to pretty to eat! Well done!
