MAC Rebel Review

MAC Rebel Lipstick - Debenhams

This season is most definitely the season of the red lip. More specifically, it's all about the oxblood hues, wine-stain lips and gothic purple-reds. Whilst you all know I'm a big fan of my signature pink pout, I do love switching things up during the autumn and winter seasons and recently I've been absolutely loving deep dark rouges. If you saw my post here you'll know I've been head over heels for some Accessorize lippies, but I couldn't resist slipping a MAC spesh into the mix.

I discovered this lippy after watching an autumn makeup video on YouTube, and immediately popped it into my online basket (Debenhams, to be specific - they currently have a few offers on). I think I previously gave this shade a miss when seeing it in the flesh because when it isn't on, it looks a really scary, almost black shade. Luckily though, once applied MAC's Rebel is an absolutely stunning perfect cherry red. Whilst I have similar shades in my collection, I don't have one anywhere near as gorgeous as this. It's the perfect MAC formula as always, super moisturising and looks really luscious and creamy on the lips. I always find shades like this a tad tricky to apply, but once you've mastered application you have the perfect shade for this time of year.

I absolutely love MAC's Rebel lipstick and it's definitely going to be my go-to colour for winter. Have you tried this shade from MAC before?

Balance Me Super Moisturising Body Oil Review

Thursday, 28 November 2013

At this time of year my skin becomes even more of a nightmare than usual. Normally, I suffer with dry skin on and off thanks to a love for fake tanning and a loathe for moisturising, but when winter comes along things get a whole lot worse. I'll admit, I'm extremely lazy when it comes to moisturising and nourishing my skin, and that extra five minutes in bed means a lot more to me than standing around waiting for my moisturiser to dry.

During the winter months my skin often becomes dry, sore and flaky, thanks to the horrendously cold weather. However, I was recently sent a gorgeous product from Balance Me that has completely transformed my skin and made a huge difference to my previously non-existent moisturising regime. Balance Me's Super Moisturising Body Oil is literally the perfect product for busy/lazy girls who want to keep their skin moisturised but without the fuss of faffing around with a cream. The fact this product is an oil means I can whip it on once I'm out of the shower and I'm done, with no tacky 'is it dry yet!?' feeling. It smells gorgeous, is 100% natural and makes my skin feel super soft and dreamy.

Another great plus to this product is that it is so incredibly nourishing, it even helps get rid of the appearance of stretchmarks and scar tissue. Now, like the majority of women in the world, I have stretch marks that I feel self-conscious about, so using this daily makes me feel like I am doing something to help improve them, which is always nice. It's also a more than welcome alternative to my usual stretch mark zapper, Palmer's Cocoa Butter, as this doesn't leave my skin feeling sticky and tacky like that usually does. Whilst I haven't seen a huge difference yet, there has definitely been some improvement so I'll be sticking to using this on a regular basis.

Have you tried Balance Me's Super Moisturising Body Oil?

I always used to love November

Dress: Primark
Cardigan: New Look
Necklace: Primark
Watch: ASOS
Shoes: Primark

First of all, I want to say a massive sorry for not blogging very much at all last week. I've had a lot going on and it's meant blogging wasn't at the top of my priorities, so I apologise for that!

I wore this outfit last weekend when me and my boyfriend took an autumnal stroll through the park. This is the epitome of an autumnal outfit for me - lots of oxblood hues mixed in with a touch of floral to spice things up. I adore this dress from Primark, it's a really flattering fit, has a gorgeous print and was a total steal at £8. I popped my slightly worn yet reasonably warm and snuggly New Look cardi over the top, and wore my beautiful Primark necklace to tie in with the oxblood-hued theme. Whilst I probably didn't have the most appropriate footwear on, I couldn't resist taking my new Primark pumps for a spin. I love the little tassel detail! I also wore the beautiful 'Happily Ever After' watch my boyfriend got me a while ago - I adore wearing this.

I have a seriously busy week ahead of me. I definitely think it's going to be a shock to the system as I'm starting a new job, but I'm really excited about it. I apologise if posting is a bit sporadic next week due to this, but bare with me! Normality will resume to my blog very soon!

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend!

Shirt*: Great Plains
 Skirt: River Island
DMs*: Cloggs
Necklace: Primark
Ring*: Jon Richard

I'm trying to get into posting outfit pictures more often, so here you go! Although the weather is meant to turn super chilly over the next few days, so I'm not sure I'll be taking many this week!

I wore this last weekend and I really love how everything slots together. I was recently sent this beautiful shirt from Great Plains and I love it - I don't wear blue all that often and the little house pattern on it is so cute. I paired it with one of my new favourite necklaces from Primark, along with my trusty River Island skirt. I've been wearing my poppy ring a lot throughout the month of November, so I thought it only fair it featured in an outfit post. I also wore my amazing Doc Martens from Cloggs which I am still completely in love with. They are the perfect boots for this weather and I love how they look on!

I hope everyone has a lovely Monday evening!

Alexa Chung - 'It' Review

Sunday, 17 November 2013

I'd been eyeing up the new book by Alexa Chung for quite a while, when I was lucky enough to win one thanks to the amazing #AccessAllASOS. Not only did I win the book itself, but a signed copy nonetheless! As you can imagine, I was pretty excited to get my paws on the book, especially considering so many blogs have been swooning over it lately.

I am a massive reader and self-proclaimed bookworm, so when a new book hits the shelves and there's a lot of hype surrounding it, I always want in on the action. I'd seen Alexa's 'It' on a few blogs and after taking a peek inside, was really excited to get stuck into the world of Alexa.

Whilst the book isn't a story of any kind (much to my disappointment, I love a bit of fiction!), it is a personal collection of anecdotes, style advice and life advice in general, all alongside various photographs and sketches, presumably by Alexa herself. The book is funny, honest and interesting, and is definitely a must-have for Alexa fans. I've always admired Alexa after seeing her rise to fame after presenting T4, and so this book is a refreshing look at her style, taste in music, and girl crushes all rolled into one. Whilst I found some pages in a book a tad dull to read, there were a few insightful moments, in particular when Alexa discusses heartbreak. It was lovely to see a different side to Alexa than the cooler-than-cool, tomboyish style icon we all know and love.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this book, and getting an insight into the world of Alexa Chung. I think it makes the perfect coffee table read, and whilst I doubt it'll be winning awards any time soon, it's definitely a must if you're a fan of Alexa.

Have you read 'It'? What did you think?

Pink to make the boys wink

Saturday, 16 November 2013
Jumpsuit*: Missguided
Necklace: Primark
Shoes: Primark
Earrings: Primark

I haven't been this excited about an outfit for quite some time now. But then I put together this beaut of pink and florals and find myself falling completely head over heels for this season's fashion. I've been wanting a pink coat for absolutely ages, considering it's my favourite colour and 'the' colour of the season, I couldn't resist this beauty from New Look. I actually got it directly from New Look online but it's sold out since then. Luckily you can find it on ASOS though, which is good as it's absolutely beautiful. I adore everything about it - it's a gorgeous boyfriend fit, is amazing quality and the colour is a stunning pastel pink. J'adore.

The jumpsuit is my current favourite item in my wardrobe. As soon as I saw it on Missguided's website I fell in love, and it's even prettier in the flesh. I've been wanting a floral jumpsuit for a while now and I'm really glad I waited to get this beauty. I have a feeling it will sell out fairly quickly as a couple of sizes have gone already. I'd recommend sizing up as Missguided's sizes can be pretty small and this particular item especially!

I decided to pair it with some trusty accessories from Primark, including my stunning pink necklace and sparkly pointed T-bars. I also switched up the location of my pics for this outfit - I'm definitely liking venturing outside of my garden - what do you think?

I'm so glad it's Saturday, what does everyone have planned for the weekend?

12 Nails of Christmas with Marisota

Friday, 15 November 2013

I've always been a big fan of nail art, and particularly when the festive season starts to get underway, I always like to experiment with my nails and try out new looks. I was recently approached by Marisota to take part in their '12 Nails of Christmas' campaign, in which 12 bloggers are going to be trying out their favourite nail look of the season, to perfectly compliment some pieces from Marisota.

I was lucky enough to be sent a bundle of polishes and nail art accessories to create my own look, and I'm really pleased with what I came up with. I wanted to incorporate the traditional festive Santa Claus-esque red with the colour of the season, oxblood, so I decided to get creative and mix and match my nails. I used the two Essie shades I was sent, Russian Roulette* (the bright red) and Bahama Mama* (oxblood) on alternate fingers, and then decided to create a half-and-half look with my middle finger. Once dried, I applied one of the Andrea Fulerton Nail Tattoos* down the middle of my finger to neaten it up and add a touch of glamour. I also decided to pop another of the tattoos on my thumb. I painted over all my nails with the Essie Let it Shine Top Coat*, and then finished the look off by applying some of the red Andrea Fulerton Nail Jewels* along the bottom of my ring finger. I think it adds a touch of glitz to the look, and glitz is always needed during the festive period!

I absolutely adore the look I created and I think it would go perfectly with the items I selected from Marisota. The glitzy nail gems tie in well with the sparkly dress, whilst the nail tattoos give the look a rocky edge, which is complimented perfectly with the fierce clutch bag and amazing biker-esque coat. I would definitely feel a million dollars wearing this nail look alongside those items at my Christmas party!

What do you think to the nail look I created? Are you planning your Christmas outfits and nail looks?

Skinbreeze Blemish Fix Serum Review

Thursday, 14 November 2013

I've suffered with acne-prone, blemished skin for years so I am always on the look out for products that claim to improve problem skin like mine. Whilst there are a lot of products out there on the market for blemish-prone skin, I always struggle when it comes to looking for serums. I can never seem to find serums that specifically concentrate on acne-prone skin types, which is annoying when that's my main skincare concern. In the past I've always opted for resurfacing serums as they seemed to be the nearest thing I could get to a serum for blemished skin.

However, I was recently sent a couple of the serums from Skinbreeze, a brand I hadn't previously heard of. Skinbreeze is based in salons as well as having their own range of products, which target different skincare concerns. One of the serums I was sent from Skinbreeze was the Blemish Fix Serum, which I was seriously excited to use. The first thing I'll say about these products is how amazing is the packaging?! I've never seen anything like it before and it makes applying the product to my face really fun! It's shaped like a syringe and basically works that way too, although it's a bit of a novelty as you still pop some on your hand and then rub it into your face. I definitely think it's a really cool idea though, and makes you feel like you're really doing something for your skin.

I've been using this serum for a fair few weeks now and I'm really, really impressed with the results. I tend to use this at night and I always notice in the morning as my skin looks so much clearer. I'd been having a bad spell with my skin and this serum completely cleared it up as well as declogging my pores, which I'm so impressed with. It contains salicylic acid, which is one of my favourite spot-fighting ingredients, and aims to hydrate the skin whilst tackling any problems. I love the fact it doesn't dry out my skin at all and I find this an absolute treat to use. I completely love it and it's definitely become my new HG serum!

Have you tried anything from Skinbreeze before? Let me know your thoughts!

A Perfect Princess Ring

Wednesday, 13 November 2013

If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know that I have a penchant for jewellery and accessories. I'm obsessed with buying jewellery and I really think an outfit is incomplete without a bit of sparkle. I'm a big fan of costume jewellery and the most part of my collection is made up of pieces from Topshop, Primark and the like, with very, very few pieces being real gold or silver, or containing real gemstones.

I have, however, always wanted a real gold ring. Believe it or not, I don't actually own one. Whereas I always remember growing up surrounded by women who wore real gold rings with gemstones and diamonds, I was never lucky enough to have any of my own. So, I've made up for that by buying dozens and dozens of costume pieces. However, when I was recently approached by Jewellery World to review one of their pieces of jewellery, I jumped at the chance. I've always wanted to have a real gem stone ring to wear regularly but I've never found 'the one'. A quick browse on Jewellery World saw me falling head over heels for one ring in particular - a very pink, very heart-shaped ring.

Okay, so it's not everyone's taste, but this dainty little heart ring is my idea of the perfect princess ring. Packaged in a cute little box, it fits my finger perfectly and I've rarely gone a day without wearing it since receiving it. It's 9ct gold, with diamonds and the most beautiful pink sapphire. I absolutely love how it looks on and it literally goes with everything I wear. I know some people aren't a fan of gold jewellery but I pretty much only ever wear gold costume jewellery so I'm definitely a big fan of the real thing!

The best thing about this ring is that it's actually really affordable. One of the reasons I've always wanted, but never purchased, my own gold ring is because of the price. I've spent a lot of time over the years staring longingly in the display windows of jewellery shops, swooning over the pretty gems, but with them all being well over £100, they just weren't affordable for a little student/now graduate like me. The RRP for my beautiful heart ring is £139.99, but Jewellery World have it in for half that price, which is pretty amazing. I think for just under £70 this is an absolute bargain as it is so pretty and I personally think would make a gorgeous gift for christmas!

Are you a fan of real jewellery, or do you prefer costume pieces? I'm so glad I finally have a real gold ring in my life, and I honestly LOVE it. Definitely the perfect princess ring!

Clip: H&M
Shoes: Next
Watch: Michael Kors

Apologies for these pictures being really bright (so much so that I'm kind of squinting in all of them) but it was really sunny when I had the chance to photograph this outfit so there we go! I haven't done an outfit post in a while and I've been meaning to show you guys this beautiful dress for ages now. I wore it on holiday and it's absolutely stunning, and I think perfect for any season. I kind of wish I was going to a winter ball or something so I could wear it, as it is so stunning on. I love the detailing and I'm seriously in awe of the dresses on Little Mistress - so many pretty things!

I paired this dress with my pretty Next heels and a cute clip from H & M, and I really love how it all ties together. I love wearing nude/cream dresses when I have a tan as I think it shows it off even more. I have a white dress from Miss Selfridge I cannot wait to show you guys - I got it in the sale a while ago but I'm thinking I can wear it with black tights during the party season so I'll hopefully have a post featuring it up soon!

Hope everyone is okay and having a good week so far!

Topshop Matte Nail Polish in Dulcet

Monday, 11 November 2013

I own a few Topshop nail polishes and have always been pretty impressed with the quality and price, so as soon as I saw this dreamy Pepto Bismol-shade pink polish I had to have it. I'm a sucker for a pastel pink and the fact that this one is matte and such a beautiful shade makes me very happy. I'm yet to try a matte shade of pink so was really excited to see what this would be like!

The polish is brilliant quality, easy to apply and only needs a couple of coats to get a decent coverage. Although this shade claims to be matte, I definitely would call it more of a semi-matte finish as there is still a bit of shine there in comparison to other matte polishes. Having said that, this shade looks SO pretty on my nails and it's been my go-to colour recently, which means I'm not so bothered about the finish. I think this shade perfectly represents 'the' colour of the season and is perfect to pair with a statement pink coat!

Whilst this polish does chip a bit, the colour is amazing and definitely makes up for that. I really love this polish and for £6 I don't think you can complain!

Are you a fan of Topshop polishes? Let me know what you think to this shade!

Max Factor Whipped Creme Foundation Review

Sunday, 10 November 2013

When it comes to foundation, I tend to stick with what I know. I'm a self-confessed lover of full-coverage foundations, and having tried many in the past, I always stick with my Holy Grail beloved Estee Lauder Double Wear, occasionally dabbling in a bit of Armani or Revlon, but generally sticking with what I like best. However, when a new foundation launches, I can't help but be a bit intrigued to see how it matches up to my favourites.

I was recently sent Max Factor's new Whipped Creme Foundation to try, and after being a tad dubious about it (I had visions of Maybelline's Dream Matte Mousse, which I never found to be very dreamy at all - ick!) I gave it a go. I have to say, I am extremely impressed with this foundation - it has gone above and beyond my expectations. I honestly thought it would leave my skin looking patchy, wouldn't last at all and definitely wouldn't cover as much as I like, but I've been blown away by just how good it is.

For just under a tenner, you get a foundation that honestly seems like it is worth a great deal more. This foundation feels beautiful on the skin and is totally gorgeous to apply, blending into the skin perfectly. I'm also really, really impressed with the coverage. I didn't think it would give me much coverage at all but I'd definitely say this is a medium-high coverage foundation, that is buildable. It doesn't look cakey on my skin but the beautiful demi-matte finish it gives leaves my skin looking luminous yet matte - something I have always wanted in a foundation. It lasts really well on the skin, and whilst it does transfer a bit for the price you really can't complain.

Whilst this foundation won't be replacing Double Wear as my all-time favourite, it is definitely right up there near the top. I absolutely love it and completely recommend it to anyone looking for a matte, medium-high coverage foundation under the £10 mark.

Have you tried Maybelline's Whipped Creme Foundation? What do you think to it?
