A Blogging Blip

I have a confession to make - I've been a really bad blogger lately. You already knew that though, right? Over the past few weeks I've gone from updating daily to having not posted in, well, weeks. My blog is a huge part of my life and I feel ridiculously guilty when posts aren't uploaded, but lately blogging just hasn't come naturally to me. I think we all have bouts like this sometimes - where we feel a lack of inspiration or direction, and writing and putting content together just doesn't come easily. I hate feeling like I 'need' to get a blog post up - I blog because I enjoy it, and if I'm not enjoying it, sometimes I find it's best just to stop.

Instead of forcing myself to blog and uploading posts filled with half-hearted, lack-lustre content, I've taken a step back. In many ways I've been forced to do this as I can quite honestly say the past few weeks have been some of the most stressful of my life, for a variety of reasons I won't go into here. Let's just say there have been an awful lot of bad moments over the past month or so, with only a few brighter moments to keep me going.

When I'm unhappy I'm generally unmotivated and this is the thing that has made my blog suffer more than anything recently. Honesty is important to me and putting on a happy front isn't something I feel comfortable doing, so I've kept away from my blog in a bid to stop it from suffering. Of course, not posting regular content means it inevitably has suffered, and writing this I feel a tad like I'm dusting off my keyboard after weeks of neglect. I hope the majority of you will stick with me though, and I just want to say a huge sorry for not having been present on here over the past few weeks. Whilst I'm keen to get back into the swing of things with regular content, I know the next few weeks of my life are going to be just as, if not more, stressful than the last, and so promising you regular posts just wouldn't be right. I hope you can be patient with me and fingers crossed things will be back to normal soon.

  1. Oh, Hannah! I hope you're okay! You don't need to apologise for anything though.

I love your blog but I do understand that sometimes we all need a break for various reasons. I hope you blog again soon but only when you're ready!

  4. I really hope you are alright - I completely understand everything you have said...there is no point in blogging for the sake of it as it takes away the inspiration that makes a post good. You are lovely - keep smiling X

  10. You shouldn't feel guilty! It sounds like you've been having a hard time so of course people wouldn't expect blogging to be your top priority! Blogging is a hobby you're supposed to love so if you're not loving it then don't force yourself to write posts or feel guilty if you don't. I hope you feel better soon and stop stressing, I'm sure your followers just want you to be happy more than anything :-)

  11. I can completely relate to this - I feel exactly the same at the moment. I've just moved jobs/house and its SO stressful. I'm also working longer hours now so blogging has had to take a back seat. I always think life would be so much easier if I could blog full-time but unfortunately its not that easy. Try not to worry too much though - if people like your blog, they'll stand by it no matter what and won't mind if you take a break here and there (I really need to take my own advice on this - ha!). xxx

  12. Its good to take a break and come back refreshed. I understand where you are coming from. Don’t feel guilty, your blog is fab but do it because you love it not because you feel you should. Best wishes and happy blogging! :-) Xx
