Waterproof Dogs Trust Jacket*: Mountain Warehouse
Floral Wellies: Joules
Rory's coat: TK Maxx
It might be freezing cold and miserable outside, but I have to admit these chilly days do have their benefits - like going on a long wintry walk with your favourite furry friend, and coming home to a warm house and a big mug of hot chocolate. As big as a fan I am of summer, there is something about this time of year that I really love.
Obviously, it would be pretty easy to avoid going out at all, especially when the weather turns cold and wet, but having a dog means you've got to drag yourself up and out whatever the weather. This, of course, means that weather-appropriate clothing is essential, so I thought I'd do a little dog walking outfit, featuring the more practical side of fashion!
Mountain Warehouse (basically the place for outdoorsy, practical clothing) recently teamed up with Dogs Trust (the UK's largest dog welfare charity) to create a limited edition dog walking jacket. It features everything a dog owner needs when out and about on walks with their dog, and the best thing is that 10% of all sales go to the charity. The jacket is waterproof, which is obviously a big must, especially if you live in the UK, and features detachable dog treat pockets, has a cosy fleece-lined hood and has a bright yellow Dogs Trust-emblazoned lining inside. It's basically the ultimate jacket for hardcore dog walkers, and the quality and warmth of it is seriously amazing.
Of course, when it gets really chilly I need to make sure Rory is wrapped up too, so thought I'd show you guys his current coat of choice too! I know some people think clothes on dogs are ridiculous, but actually during the winter it's really important to have a coat for your dog, especially if he's little like Rory. Rory's not the biggest fan of his coat but I think he looks seriously cute in it - and it was a steal at £12 from TK Maxx - they have some of the cutest dog accessories.
An outfit post wouldn't be an outfit post from me without a girly touch however, and this comes in the form of my beloved Joules wellies. I'd search high and low for these wellies for months and finally found them in my size (I think they were a sell-out) and I really love them. Joules wellies definitely aren't cheap but I just love the design of them and the quality is great too.
So, fellow dog owners - what do you wear when walking your dog? I know it's not the most glam subject but I thought I'd give you an insight into what I wear to walk Rory during the winter months!
